Environmental Departments and Environmental Officers in most of the big Corporate Companies, small businesses and Goverment, are only there for "Window Dressing". They specialise in finding ways, to hide environmental and health risks from the public. Less than 5% of Environmental Officers are qualified to deal with Environmental problems, Those that are qualified, do not have the funds to deal with Environmental problems.

From the time TOYOTA South Africa recieved scientific evidence of the groundwater pollution from the motor industry, it took them less than 2 months to introduce measures to control and eliminate effluent pollution.

Endocrine Disruptors in cleaning chemicals, oil, fossil fuel and radiator anti freeze (containing Ethylene-Glycol) are not seperated in oil and grease traps. These toxins are not removed from water with standard water purification methods.

It is estimated that the motor industry in South Africa is polluting 1 400 000 000 (one point four billion) litres of water from car washes per day, or four hundred and fourty eight billion litres of water per annum. This polluted water is then mixed with other effluent and the total estimated water polluted with Endocrine Disruptors in South Africa, is 9 750 000 000 litres per day.

New Toyota Dealers are implementing the SupaZorb technology, to seal paving and decontaminate storm water before discharge.

All Toyota Dealers now re-designing washbay floors and or inline effluent SupaZorb filter boxes. These Filters, prevent chemicals entering the sewer effluent system. After filtration, brings C.O.D., B.O.D., pH, and heavy metals, to below  required disposal levels. In some filters, cleans effluent to drinking water standards and better.
